An author interview with Mallory Mitchell

Today we have a guest author who willingly agreed to do my infamous author interview :)

An author interview with Mallory Mitchell

How did you come up with your premise? Is there a story behind your book? How did the story evolve?
Sometimes the things we search for, the things we think will make everything in our life make sense aren’t what we need to find.

For those who are not familiar with this story, would you please give us the blurb?
Having escaped from a bad marriage Molly has no plans to venture back into the dating world. But when Reece Flynn drives through her father’s church—literally, that is—he crashes into her life like no other man ever has. It’s crazy to think a man like Reece would be interested in a woman like her, but why would God allow her to meet him if Reece wasn’t meant for her?
With his singing career in shambles, Reece Flynn relocates to Piney Mountain, North Carolina where he’s assigned a long hitch of community service. Reece is restless, always searching, but no matter what he gets, it’s not enough. He hopes to find some peace and quiet in Piney Mountain, but instead he finds Molly Harmon. Could what he feels be love?

Are there any fun titbits about this story you can share with us?
The hero puts the heroine’s name in the stall of a bathroom he is painting for community service…of course, he paints over it.

How did you decide on the setting?
It’s part of writing what you know.  I was raised in North Carolina

Music

I began in first grade. I loved creative writing.

Who is your favourite author and why?
There are so many, but I’ll go with JRR Tolkien.

Ohhhh yes!

Do you have any strange handwriting habits, like capitalizing all your “r”s or dotting your “I”s with heart (or anything like that)?
My penmanship depends on the day as does the slant, and neatness. I forget to dot I’s. Also, I often mix script and cursive.

What were you doing at midnight last night?
I was sleeping.

Have you ever eaten a crayon?
No but I once ate a whole tube of chapstick when I was four.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
My sister’s pom-poms. (Again, I was four…I don’t think they were feeding me.)

What is your favourite animal?
I love animals, so I don’t have a favourite.

Have you ever cried during a movie?

My Review of Homecoming of Reece Flynn by Mallory Mitchell

You know how sometimes a line from a book lingers long after the last page has closed? This is one of those books. "My pop used to say that one all the time when I would complain about something. He’d say all things work together, not all good things, but the good, the bad, the plain out terrible, work together and the sum total is good." Reece Flynn

The Homecoming of Reece Flynn is the second of Ms. Mitchell's books I have read and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. From Reece's first appearance in court and the hilarious way he argues with the judge, to the tear jerking parts later on, and the intrigue of the plot, this book has all the right ingredients to keep you glued to the pages. I read it in one go, staying up way too late to finish it. The characters come to life in such a vivid way, even the secondary characters, I found myself wanting to tell one of them off for being rude.

Definitely a kindle keeper and one to curl up with.
