five sentence Friday - a day late

I forgot :( Oops. So here's your five sentences from current WIP - Turned. And a flower that one of the kids gave me at work this week. :) Dane shoved to one side the insistent voice telling him he was betraying Jas. He wasn’t. Nate was right. Amy was very pretty…but she was his daughters’ nanny not their governess. And he was definitely no Mr. Rochester.

New release - Hidden in Pages by Laura Briggs

Blurb: Adelle Bradbury doesn’t like adventure—in books or real life. As a quiet librarian who hides behind reading glasses, she doesn’t expect to be swept into a dangerous mission to recover one of the world’s most famous lost treasures. But that’s exactly what happens when a mysterious history buff enlists her help to recover a treasure map—A map he insists is concealed in one of the library’s old books, its contents revealing the secret location of King Solomon’s missing wealth. Suddenly, mild-mannered Adelle is thrust into a world of treasure hunters, secret societies, and thieving profiteers. In a mad dash to protect the treasure, she finds a courage she never expected and something more—the possibility of true love Buy link -  http://www.pelicanbookgroup.com/ec/hidden-in-pages

Five sentence Friday

Well unlike last week which dragged - this weeks gone a tad faster, but not by much. Today's five sentences come from my up coming release Tuesday's Child - releases in both print and ebook on all sides of the pond on Oct 19th. And it's exciting cos the book is now up on the coming soon page on the publishers website Adeline btw, is deaf. Writing a deaf heroine was a challenge but I loved it. Ben is her hearing dog. Nate is the hero. In this scene he's leading a self defence class. And your excerpt is: An arm went around her throat choking her, and another arm grabbed her waist. Panic filled her and everything she’d been taught went out of her mind. She struggled hard, seeing Ben leap to his feet and come running across. She brought her left foot up sharply against Nate’s shin and then stomped on his foot. At the same time she flung her head back as hard and fast as she could, feeling something crunch as she did so.

New release:Roaring 20's book 3 - Shifting Sands by JoAnn Carter

Book Three of the Roarin’ Twenties Series:  Shifting Sands Dede White is going to shut down the Fairview  sanatorium, no matter what. Her beloved aunt died because of doctors like James Riley and she’s not going to let him trifle with any more lives. But -- James Riley isn’t what she thinks. Unfortunately, Dede doesn’t figure this out until she’s done her best to shut his sanatorium down. She might not be able to repair the damage she’s done, and even if she is, will he be able to love her back? EXCERPT He drove down through the town of Brown's Mills in silence. As he neared the lake, he pulled off on a side road and stopped by a path that led to the beach. All the while, Dede stayed hunkered down behind his seat. "You can get up now." She slowly raised herself up to the back seat and then peered out the window to double check. Apparently, she was satisfied. She sank down into the seat and sighed. "Why are you in my car?" "I told you...&

9/11 in memorium

A repost but worth it Like most of us, I know exactly where I was and what I was doing. I was at my parents. Two kids at school three miles away. It was 2.15pm. Neighbours had just finished and Dad asked if I'd like to watch Diagnosis Murder. I said yes so he kept the TV on. A black screen came up saying "news report". We went live to New York and stayed there. I was driving to the school to collect R and C when the first tower fell. I arrived home and put the TV on in time to see the second fall. The TV just stayed on as hope faded. Like when Princess Diana died, we waited for someone to tell us it was a joke. But they never did. On Oct 11th 2001 a friend sent me this. Michael wrote: I had a very dear friend question my faith in God right after the terrorist attack on America. Her question was simply put, "Where is your God today?" She was very hurt, as all Americans were, so I tried not to react defensively. Since that moment I have prayed an

But I told everyone it'll be up and running by Sat. Including my broadband company. And now the nets being stupid cos no one knows which number i should be connected to... ok. Moan over. You're turn.....

Five sentence Friday

It's Friday, so you get five sentences from the current WIP. It's still Sunday's Child but I've just passed 41k so once Hattie and Cal stop changing the plot on me, it'll soon be done.  I'm handwriting draft one and typing up draft two at the same time. The hand written version is about 2 chapters ahead of the typed version. Before you ask, no this wasn't in the chapter plan. It wasn't even in the handwritten draft one. It suddenly appeared in the typed up draft two. So will have to make notes on the hand written one now. Sigh... But here you go. Today's five sentences. She ran a hand down his face. “I’m marrying you and nothing is going to stop me from doing that.” He leaned into her touch, catching her fingers with his lips. “Good--maybe we elope.” “Or just post the banns today and marry in three months’ time in which ever church can fit us in.”

today at work...

I've come to the conclusion I obviously don't blog about the right kind of things or my posts are just too boring as the number of page views is practically zero. Some times it is. Zero that is.  About the only time I get into double figures is when I have someone else blogging here. Maybe that's the key. Maybe I am boring and ppl just don't want to know about what I'm writing or not writing. Or where I went on holiday. Or my wedding photos or how long I've been married. So this is probably going to rate about a zero too.  But this morning at work, we got the hoops out. You know, those multicoloured things the gymnasts do clever things with? Well most of the kids were just hula-hooping or throwing them so they worked like boomerangs and came back to you. One kid, we'll call him Zach (not his real name), was running manically around the hall holding a hoop flat against each leg. Then he stopped and a couple of the other kids (we'll call them S

Twenty years ago today...

Dean and I got married twenty years ago today. 1pm Carey Baptist Church, Reading. That's why this post was scheduled for 1pm rather than the usual 9am or earlier :) Cezzi in my wedding dress Jessie in my wedding dress On the church steps in Forbury Gardens And in case you were wondering.... this was taken when J was a baby of about 8 months. So 12 years or so ago. Sadly when I tried the dress on a couple months ago, it didn't do up anymore. Stomach, waist, hips, no problem... But any further than mid back and nada. But I think to get in my wedding dress after 3 kids in 8yrs is pretty impressive, huh? So happy anniversary Dean. Here's to the next 20 years.
